2 months…that is how it has been since I last posted! What a shame it is too, since I have had ample opportunity due to my 3 week Christmas break. Oh well. I have been very happily employed, working the shifts that my coworkers could not whenever possible, cleaning and organizing my room (a much needed endeavor), catching up with friends, and reading.
In making the final preparations for my classes that begin on Monday, January 3rd, I have been sending out emails to various classmates, offering to buy a textbook here and trying to sell a workbook there. In one of my emails I described the inevitable excitement that I think every student feels at the start of a new school year/quarter/semester:
"I don't know about you but no matter how difficult the classes promise to be there always seems like there is a little happy sparkle of hope at the beginning of each quarter. It's like a fresh box of crayons... you just want to sniff it, to look at it and to run your finger across the tops of the perfectly pointed crayon tips. Sigh."
Perhaps the Christmas break has made me something of a nostalgic, romantic. Or maybe it is all of my Jane Austen reading (although she never did mention her heroines’ explicitly using crayons that I recall*smile*). But seriously now, I don’t think I am the only one that feels the “little happy sparkle of hope “ at the beginning of the quarter.
To all the students who start school tomorrow I wish you all the best. To all of you lucky students who don’t start until January 17th (or even you wretched people who don’t resume your studies until…dare I say it… February!) I pray you continue to enjoy your holiday!

Still Here
While I have been absent from the blogging world of late, I have been very present and active in the world outside of my computer screen. My primary activity has been sewing, sewing, sewing like a mad woman before my next quarter begins on Monday. Altogether I have been a little, happy "domesticate," enjoying many of the activties I do not often enjoy when in school. Here is a list:
~*~ Made 2 new dinners that surprised my family. (They were surprised only because they were "actully good." I suppose there was some doubt as to whether my dishes would be good, considering the fact that they came from my school food scicence class lab book . Sigh... my culinary pursuits are forever looked upon with eyes of skeptisim.). Kidding!
~*~ Improved my sewing skills by begining on a dress. It is still in progress. I also began to keep a "sewing journal" to document the progress of my new skills and projects. ! So many delishious ideas are now screaming at me that almost can't stand it. Good thing there is a chance my life will extend past Chirstmas break...there will be other times to sew!
~*~Finished a child's Bible story (of sorts) that I have working on for a few weeks.
~*~ Started C.S Lewis's The Great Divorce. Magnificent! Dispite the fact that it is only 100 some-odd pages, I am taking it slow and savoring it. If I highlighted the good parts, every line would be marked up. No, I must be content to copy some of my favorite ones in a different notebook.
~*~ Started running again!
~*~ Sat and talked with mom! A blessing that is more "rushed" when school deadlines encourch.
~*~ Photo collage of my photo postcards and notecards that will be available for purchase. Upcomming post soon!
Oh, and since I haven't said it yet let me do so... Happy New year!
May we live out today sowing in the Spirit and not in the flesh. May we not grow weary of our sowing, trusting rather in Gods’ power to reap good things.
