Post DI Project Day #2

So on day two of post-internship fun, I tackled the mountains of paperwork I had cleverly disguised in various folders and notebooks throughout the past 10 months.  While there might not appear to be a great difference between the 1st  and the 4th picture, the 2nd and 3rd show you just how much paperwork I cleared out!

Post DI Project #1

The week after I completed my dietetic internship (DI) I spent much of my fun-free week cleaning!  Now while that might not sound very fun to many people, others may recognize what a welcome relief such “puttering” can be.

So behold, the hideousness of one of the bathroom drawers!  For years it was Middle Sister’s drawer; however, after she moved out it became the “all-things-that-have-no-home” drawer.  In my defense, this drawer normally has very little in it.  Really.  It was only during my last week of the internship (as I started cleaning out other drawers) that I began carelessly throwing items in there, which resulted in the above image.

Heart of the Matter Monday

“Grace is  God’s declaration to the Believer that she can never disappoint Him… on the flip side, grace means I can do absolutely nothing to please God more than just being who I am in Christ.  Yes, our works are good—they help others and honor God.  It is for the sake of such works that we remain in these bodies.  But our works are simply a means of living out the standing God has granted us, by grace through Christ’s sacrifice.  The works flow from grace, they don’t produce it.  ” Good works don’t earn you anything, they are “an act of worship from a heart overwhelmed by what Christ has done. “

Heart of the Matter Monday

Welcome to the first Heart of the Matter Monday weekly postings.  It should be stated that I snagged the title from the daily devotional book with the same name. While not all of the quotes provided each Monday are from the book Heart Of the Matter, many (if not most) of them are.  I have experienced such blessed conviction and encouragement through the daily readings that I thought I would share some of them with you.  It is my desire that each of Monday's quote will point you to Christ.  After all, what our hearts do with Him each day is the most significant part of our day.  That is the real “heart of the matter.”

“ The heart is the real or essential you.  The heart is the steering wheel of every human being.   Everything we do is shaped and controlled by what our hearts desire.  That is why the Bible is very clear that God wants our hearts.”

Done...Done...Done Done....with the DI

It’s like meeting that friend that you haven’t spoken to or seen for years. Your questioning, searching glances meet, then drop, then meet again as you realize, that IS her!  “Its SO good to see you!” you cry.

Then you spend the next several awkward minutes trying to figure out how to reconnect with this person you used to be so close to but have lost some connection with.

That how I feel about re-entering into the blog world after so long a silence…after such a long lapse with no updates.  I suppose it is the same as greeting your friend… just say something, show you are genuine and over look any awkwardness.

So let me get right to the point…

I AM DONE with my dietetic internship (DI)!!!! I can’t believe it!  Ten months of hard work that are gone and behind me.  It is difficult to say anything about it now….how am I supposed to adequately describe some of the momentous and/or most difficult moments now, after the fact?  I do have some posts that I wrote during the last 10 months that I never got around to posting which I might post later so as to give you an idea of what internship life it like.  But for now, let me just say that Christ is the one who carried me through!!  I am so thankful for the upholding of His Hand and Word, the strength of my family’s love, the great group of 14 other interns in my program, and my supportive Dietetic Internship Director.

This week was (is!) my first week completely free and I have had a great time so far caring for mom (she’s been sick with a nasty virus), doing laundry, cleaning,  tending plants, grocery shopping, washing my car, cleaning inside my closet, dresser and bathroom cabinets, and sorting…sorting…sorting the mountains of paperwork I accumulated during my internship!

I’ll have more to tell about these projects as well as my plans for the future… but for right now…welcome back (to me!)

"the most spiritual thing..."

I almost feel like I have no right to post a small measly little one-liner since I haven't posted in ages.  However, I am going to disregard the guilt of the equally infamous and imaginary Blogger Police in order to share a quote.  i have it scribbled on a yellow Post-It stuck to my  bedroom window above my desk.  I have texted this to numerous friends and family members since I first heard it last week, and I can't tell you what heart-felt responses I received from it.

Like it?  You can listen the  5 session program HERE.  Prepare to be blessed
(Oh, but don't attempt to put makeup on in the morning when you listen to it.  Especially mascara.  It will run.. Ask me how I know.)
